Higher Education Commission team visits Turbat University

GWADAR: A team of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) visited Turbat University to review management practices and quality assurance at the newly established institution.

During a meeting with the university management, the HEC team headed by Dr Khawaja Azam Ali, former director general of HEC’s Quality Assurance Agency, incumbent Director General Dr Rafiq Baloch, HEC’s Quality Assurance Division DG Dr Mohammad Ismail and Dr Abdul Majeed Cheema of Punjab University praised the progress and achievements made by Turbat University’s team in three years of its transition phase.

They also expressed satisfaction over the procedures being followed by the university in different teaching and administrative sections.

Turbat University Vice-Chancellor Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir briefed the review team on the background of the university’s establishment, meetings of statuary bodies, infrastructure, development projects, governance system, academic programmes, enrolment of students, future plan and capacity-building activities of faculty members, administrative staff and students.

The university’s registrar, Dr Hanif Rahman, provided all necessary information and documents to the team.

The team members also went around various components of the rented building of the university, including academic and admin blocks, library, classrooms, computer lab, sports complex, transport section and video-conferencing room.

At present construction of the university’s complex is going on in Ginna area, about 15km off Turbat city.

The HEC team’s visit was part of the prime minister’s initiative to review quality assurance and good governance in universities across the country.
