SUKKUR: Girl handed over to tribal chief
SUKKUR, Nov 11: Gul Bano Narewal, who had married Naveed Khaskheli of her own will at the sessions court of Khairpur on Oct 14, was handed over to the elder of her tribe on Monday night.
It was learnt that around 100 Narewal tribesmen came to Khaskheli tribesmen and pressured them to hand over the girl to them.
To avert any clash between the tribes, the Khaskheli tribe chief handed over Gul Bano to Narewal tribe chief Allahdad.
According to elders of the Khaskheli tribe, the Narewals had refused to recognize the marriage as the couple had married at the court.
The Narewals said the matter belonged to their tribe and they would decide it on their own.
It was also learnt that Gul Bano, her mother, Husna, and brother, Imtiaz, were expelled from the Tagial Narewal village by the tribesmen on charges of bad character some three years back and since then they were residing in Dara Wahan.
The father of Naveed Khaskheli, is reportedly in police custody. Imtiaz, brother of Gul Bano, has termed the marriage Karo-kari and pledged to take revenge.
