Kohat BISE chairman, controller suspended

KOHAT: The government has removed the chairman and controller of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Kohat, with immediate effect and ordered an inquiry against them, official sources said here on Thursday.

They said that both the officials were facing charges of assigning duties to unqualified teachers for the 9th board exams illegally on the recommendations of parliamentarians and influential people on a large scale, leading to rampant cheating and use of unfair means in the examinations.

The sources said that exam duties had been assigned to grade-14 female teachers, while the minimum qualification for the purpose was grade-16.

They said that those appointed also included a female coordinator of PTI women wing. They said that the two had sent a short list of teachers to the Peshawar directorate and appointed rest of the staff themselves.

The official sources confirmed that BISE, Kohat, chairman Aqal Zaman was removed from his post, while controller of examinations Shafqat Munir was suspended. They said that secretary Abdur Raqeeb had been given temporary charge as chairman whereas Kaleemullah was appointed controller of examinations.

Meanwhile, assistant political agent, FR Kohat, Ali Asghar visited various examination halls in Darra Adamkhel on Thursday. He also suspended four invigilators, including Zafar Jamal, Mohammad Israel, Dost Mohammad and Inayatullah Khan, for allegedly allowing use of unfair means by students.

SPORTS COMPLEX: Deputy commissioner, Kohat, Zahir Shah Mohmand said on Thursday that the government had approved construction of a sports complex in Kohat and the process for selection of a suitable site was underway.

He said this on the second day of under-23 regional games for women at Kohat sports complex. Mr Mohmand and DG Sports Rasheeda Ghaznavi inaugurated the games by cutting a ribbon.

The DC said on the occasion that the girls had proved that they could compete in every field, including games.
