Govt criticised for letting Musharraf go
ISLAMABAD: The Shuhada Foundation of Lal Masjid on Friday criticised the government for allowing Pervez Musharraf to leave the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Lal Masjid, Tariq Asad advocate and Haroon Rasheed Ghazi said the ruling party would meet the same fate in the next elections as the PML had faced in the 2008 elections.
Tariq Asad is the president of Shuhada Foundation, an NGO fighting court cases for those killed in the military operation on Lal Masjid in 2007.
Haroon Rasheed is the son of Rasheed Ghazi who was killed in the military operation. He is opposed to a decision by his uncle Maulana Abdul Aziz to pardon Gen Musharraf for the military operation.
“The deceased was my father and Maulana Abdul Aziz has no religious or legal authority to pardon the military dictator,” Rasheed said.
He added that despite several legal strengths, including a non-bailable arrest warrant against Musharraf in the murder case of Abdul Rasheed Ghazi, the government allowed him to leave the country.
