Junior tennis championship starts

LAHORE: A total of 12 fixtures of boys in the first round of Junior National Ranking Tennis Championship 2016 were decided on the inaugural day at Bagh-i-Jinnah tennis courts on Sunday.

In the Under-18 ties, Ahmad Kamil beat Daniyal Waheed 6-1, 6-0; Musa Haroon won against Bhawal Ahmad 6-1,6-2; Muhammad Said beat Ahmer Saeed 6-0, 6-0; Adil Khan beat Syed Dawar 6-3, 6-0; Mustafa Ali won against Fahad Ahmad 7-5, 6-3; Hamza bin Rehan beat Muhammad Bilal 6-0, 6-0; Hafiz Arbab Ali beat Samad Arejo 6-1, 6-2; Abdul Sami beat Jamal Shiekh 6-0, 6-0 and Shaheer Hammad beat Sameer Ahmad 6-1,6-2.

In the Under-14 category, Faizan Fayyaz defeated Nausharwan Malik 6-0, 6-0; Musa Haroon beat Ahmad Amjad 6-2, 6-3 and Abdul Hanan Khan beat Saiful Aziz 6-4, 6-2.

The Punjab Lawn Tennis Association has arranged the championship. Association secretary Rasheed Malik was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony. He said that more than 120 boys and girls from all over Pakistan would take part in the event.
