Man burnt alive by ‘faith healer’

GUJRANWALA: An elderly man was burnt alive allegedly by a fake faith healer in Baghbanpura on Saturday.

Abdul Sattar, father of six, was not feeling well, and his family took him to spiritual leader Muhammad Aslam. He tied Sattar with ropes and set him on fire.

Police registered a case against Aslam, who is at large.

ARRESTED: Saddar police arrested on Saturday two persons in the murder of Javed Iqbal.

Saddar Superintendent of Police Dr Rizwan said Javed Iqbal was gunned down by unidentified men in Verpal Chattha village. The heirs nominated three people in the murder case, but they were declared innocent in police interrogation.

Police studied data on the mobile phone of the deceased and arrested Shamshad Bibi who told police that the mastermind of the murder was Aftab Chattha, who lived in some other country. She said Javed Iqbal had shot at and injured Chattha over an enmity a few years ago.

When Chattha came to Pakistan for one month, he got killed Javed through two hired assassins identified as Hamza and Haseeb.

Police arrested the accused and sent them to jail while the woman got bail from the court of law.

Dr Rizwan said Chattha would be arrested soon through Interpol.
