TORONTO: The three dimensional TORONTO sign in the Canadian city was lit in Pakistan flag colours of green and white on Tuesday in solidarity with the victims of a suicide blast that killed 74 people on Easter Sunday in Lahore.

Toronto mayor, John Tory, posted the image on his official Facebook page, with the message that the sign is lit in green and white to remember the innocent victims of the blast.

At least 74 people, including women and children were killed in the suicide blast in Lahore's Gulshan-i-Iqbal park.

The attack was condemned by politicians and celebrities around the world, who took to social media to express sorrow and anger over the tragedy.

Tory said that the city administration had hoped to have it lit in their (blast victims) memory sooner but the sign had technical issues.

The 3D TORONTO sign was developed as part of the City of Toronto's Host City Showcase Program to celebrate the 2015 Pan American Games and Parapan American Games.

The sign is currently located at Nathan Phillips Square and has been placed along the north-west corner of the reflecting pool so that the the capital's City Hall towers form an iconic Toronto-branded backdrop for photographs taken by residents, visitors and members of the national and international media.

A day after the blast, Omni Hotel in United States city of Dallas, did the same to show solidarity with the victims of carnage.
