RAWALPINDI: Najma performs ground-breaking ceremony of admin block

RAWALPINDI, Dec 29: The vice-chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Dr Najma Najam, has performed the ground-breaking ceremony of the administration block of the university here on Saturday.

The new block will be constructed at a cost of Rs10.08 million. The ceremony coincided with the fourth annual day of the university. The administration block will be the first block to be specifically constructed in the university. All existing buildings of the university were part of the former presidency and were later converted into classrooms and other facilities.

A university official told Dawn that a major portion of the block would be completed by June 2002. He said the university had received Rs53.5 million grant, out of which Rs22.5 had been earmarked for the construction of administration and academic blocks.

Giving details, he said the administration block would be a three-storeyed building, where a library would be set up on the second floor. The total covered area of the administration block would be 12,989 square-feet, he added.
