Robbers have field day in Gujranwala
GUJRANWALA, Nov 15: Robbers took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, besides two motorcycles in several strikes in and around the district, on Saturday.
Reports said four armed men entered landlord Ghaus Ahmad’s house at Wahando, held up the inmates and took away Rs40,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs150,000.
The gang also plundered cash and valuables worth around Rs250,000 from the houses of Muhammad Imran and Nazir Ahmad at the same village.
Three men sneaked into Saifullah’s general store at Bhader village and took away Rs130,000 in cash and other commodities.
A gang deprived Muhammad Saleem, of Baghbanpura, Muhammad Yaqub, of Gakkhar Town, and Tariq, of Buteranwala village, of their motorcycles.
Relevant police stations have registered cases on the complaints of the victims.
BUSTED: The Satellite Town police claimed to have smashed a four-member gang of traffickers following an encounter with it within their jurisdiction, on Saturday.
The police also claimed that they had recovered heroin and illicit arms from their possession.
On receiving information that a gang had brought contraband from tribal area to supply it to various parts of the Punjab, District Police Officer Saud Aziz deputed the area police to raid their hideout.
As the police team reached their hideout, the inmates opened fire, which the police returned. After a brief exchange of fire, the police arrested four people and recovered heroin in quantity and weapons from their possession.
They have been identified as Muhammad Asghar, Maqsood Ahmad, Abid Bashir and Pervaiz Ahmad. They confessed during interrogation that they had been supplying heroin in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala for long.
