DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Probe begins into alleged police killing of two people

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 29: Senior Superintendent of Police Arif Nawaz has ordered a departmental enquiry into the alleged police killing of Najeebullah Khan, a Panyala councillor, and one Karamatullah, who were allegedly gunned down by Panyala SHO Hamidullah Bijli in a fake police encounter.

DSP Dawal Khan and CIA SI Haq Nawaz Khan have been deputed to conduct the inquiry. They have begun the probe.

The NWFP inspector general of police has also constituted another inquiry team for the fact-finding purpose in these killings. Meanwhile, Paharpur tehsil Nazim Makhdoomzada Altaf Hussain has demanded a separate and impartial judicial inquiry into the matter.

It was reported that during a police raid conducted by Panyala police on the Hujra of Najeebullah Khan, Panyala SHO, who was leading the raid, opened fire on the participants of a meeting there. Resultantly, Najeebullah Khan died on the spot whereas Karamatullah Khan and Muhammad Din received bullet injuries and were admitted to DHQ teaching hospital, Dera Ismail Khan, where Karamatullah succumbed to his injuries.
