Tayyab goes down fighting as brilliant Farhan bags squash title
KARACHI: Pakistan No 1 and top seed Farhan Zaman overcame second seeded Tayyab Aslam in a fully-stretched final to win the US$15,000 sixth Parco Roshan Khan Open Squash Championship here on Thursday night.
Farhan, 24, fought back from 1-2 down to post 11-9, 7-11, 8-11, 11-0, 11-4 victory over his opponent in the clash that lasted 57 minutes at the PN Roshan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex..
“This is my second domestic title of the year after winning the national championship recently at Lahore,” Farhan told Dawn.
Ranked 58th in the world, an elated Farhan said he has been training strenuously which has immensely helped him win the Chicago Open and Washington Open in the second half of last year.
For 20-year-old Tayyab it was the second defeat in-a-row at the hands of Farhan in the final as the two have clashed at Lahore..
Tayyab, who surged 2-1 up in the final, seems to have short of stamina as he virtually lost the last two games without any efforts.
