Mehr Sattar’s arrest: LHC disposes of habeas corpus petition

OKARA: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday disposed of the habeas corpus petition filed against the custody of Anjuman-i-Mazareen Punjab Secretary General Mehr Abdul Sattar.

AMP media adviser Noor Nabi had filed the petition against the district police and sought release of Mehr Sattar.

The judge, Abdul Sami Khan, directed the police to come up with record and some officials produced the 30-day detention order issued under 3MPO by DCO Socrat Aman Rana. The police also submitted the list of 26 cases registered against Mehr Sattar from 2001 to 2016 and said he was detained in the Sahiwal Central Jail.

Justice Abdul Sami Khan disposed of the petition with the direction that it was not maintainable.

The DSP (legal) confirmed that the petition had been disposed of.
