Jordanian medal of merit conferred on COAS
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif arrived in the Jordanian capital on Monday and met senior members of the royal family and high-ups of Jordanian armed forces, said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“The army chief was given unprecedented reception on his arrival at Jordan and was received by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, Jordanian armed forces, General Mashal Al Zaben and Chief of Royal Jordanian Air Force Major General Mansour Al Jobour,” said the statement.
Later, Gen Sharif met Royal Highness Prince Al Hassan bin Talal. He also held separate meetings with Gen Mashal Al Zaben, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, Jordanian armed forces, and Royal Highness Lt Gen Prince Feisal bin El Hussein.
During the meetings, regional security, military-to-military relations and matters of mutual interest including enhanced defence collaboration and military training exchanges were discussed.
At an exclusive ceremony, Gen Sharif was awarded the most prestigious Jordanian medal of merit for “displaying remarkable courage in leading Pakistan Army in the face of multiple threats, especially the menace of terrorism and above all for his great efforts to promote peace and stability in the region,” said the statement.
