Three officials, contractor kidnapped near Turbat

GWADAR: Three government officials and a contractor were kidnapped from Dasht area of Kech district late Sunday night.

According to sources, Fida Ahmed, a sub-divisional offi­cer in the road and building department, and Mohammad Ibrahim and Rahim Jan, sub-engineers of the irrigation department, accompanied by contractor Mehboob Dashti, were returning to Turbat after inspecting development projects in a nearby area.

When they reached Dasht area, armed men riding a pick-up intercepted them and took them away.

Personnel of the Frontier Corps and other law enforcement agencies mounted a search for the kidnapped men and their abductors but could not find them.

On the directives of the chief minister’s inspection team, sources said, the three officials had conducted ins­pec­tion of development projects undertaken between 2008 and 2013.
