Aisam-ul-Haq to represent Pakistan in French Open
Pakistan tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi is set to feature in the ongoing French Open. He will partner with Daniel Nestor of Canada with the duo seeded 14 in the Doubles event of the championship.
This will be Qureshi's 9th appearance in the French Open and 34th in Grandslam events.
The Lahore-born tennis star's best performances came in 2010 US Open when he ended as runner-up in Mixed Doubles and Men's Doubles events. Qureshi partnered with India's Rohann Bopanna for the latter event which earned him his second Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award for 2010.
He had earlier received the award in 2002 for partnering with Israel's Amir Hadad. However, the partnership invited severe criticism against him back home.
In November 2010, Qureshi was appointed as United Nations Developmental Program's (UNDP) goodwill ambassador.
The 36-year-old stands at the 53rd spot in the doubles ranking.
