Three killed in Swabi incidents

SWABI: Three people were killed in different incidents in the district on Wednesday, police said.

In the main bazaar of Topi, a medical technician was hit by a loaded tractor trolley when he was crossing the Topi-Tarblea Road. The deceased was identified as Ijaz Khan, a resident of Mangal Chai. An FIR was registered against the driver of the tractor at City police station.

In another incident, Bacha Khan alias Lala drowned in the Indus River. His body could not retrieve till filing of this report.

The deceased, a resident of Zaoibai village, had gone to river to beat the heat.In Ismailabad area, two families clashed over a piece of land and as result Mohammad Ashaq was killed on the spot. Registering FIR against Mohammad Ijaz, a brother of the deceased said that cause of the clash was a dispute over ownership of a piece of land.

PROTEST: The residents of Yar Husain area blocked the road here on Wednesday to protest excessive power loadshedding.

Announcements were made through loudspeakers and people were asked to come out of their homes to participate in the protest against Peshawar Eclectic Supply Company (Pesco) for observing prolonged outages.

The protesters gathered at main bazaar of Yar Husain and blocked the road to all kinds of traffic for more than an hour. They also chanted slogans against Wapda and both federal and provincial governments.

The protesters threatened to spend their days on road, blocking it to all kinds of traffic, if the unscheduled power loadshedding didn’t end in Ramazan.

Later, Pesco officials held talks with the leaders of the protesters and assured them that there would be no unscheduled loadshedding in future. After the assurance, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
