Famous people who never existed

This is regarding the cover story “Famous people who never existed” compiled by Benazir Raz (YW, May 14). It was an amazing article full of information that I didn’t know about. I am still amazed at the fact that how people easily get fooled into believing in something or someone who doesn’t even exists.

I request the writer and the YW team to publish more articles like this as they debunk wrong beliefs and we teenagers should know about whatever is happening around the world.

Diary of a bookworm

This is regarding the story “Diary of a bookworm” by Syeda Armeen Nasim (YW, May 14). I agree with the writer’s views in the story as I am one of those people who read a lot and I am always found sitting between huge piles of books.

I really love reading books and yes, the word ‘bookworm’ should be replaced with something more creative.

Computer science

In Turbat, computer science is undervalued. I was in a government school there and we only had computers in school as showpieces and were never taught anything about it.

When I reached college, I was excited to choose ICS as one of my subjects but I was in for a big disappointment. There were just two computers in working condition which were insufficient for all the students. Soon many students lost interest and even changed over to other subjects.

Recently I gave my exams and let me share that when we received the question paper, most of the questions were not familiar to us. Whatever we had learnt was a result of self-education.

Computer science is a very useful subject in today’s world but it is being underestimated by the education authorities. I request the concerned authorities to make suitable facilities available to ICS students in Turbat so that the students there don’t suffer.

Summer movies

It was so interesting to read about all the movies that are releasing this summer in the article “Movies to watch this summer” by Talat Naz (YW, May 28, 2016).

This year is really a good one in terms of movies releasing for kids and teens.

Since the begining of the year we have had many blockbusters releasing and a lot more is to come. But sadly, Harry Potter movies will not be among these, and I feel very sad as they have been the highlight of the releases each year.
