MULTAN: The Punjab Mass Transit Authority has finalised a plan to run feeder buses on the routes linking metro stations of the Multan Metro Bus System.

According to a handout issued here on Monday, such a planning has also been done for metro bus systems of Lahore and Rawalpindi.

It said the imported, modern, comfortable and air-conditioned buses would be run on these routes and a contract has already been awarded for Lahore Metro Bus System while tendering process is underway for Metro Bus Systems of Multan and Rawalpindi.

“According to the plan, at least 100 buses will be run on 11 feeder routes of the Multan Metro Bus System. The implementation of this plan in three cities will be a revolutionary step that will facilitate those who will intend to reach their workplaces, markets, offices, schools, colleges and universities,” it added.

It said that a citizen having metro bus card would be entitled to travel on these buses of feeder routes free of cost in case of first transfer traveling while he will pay Rs5 in case of using the feeder bus for second transfer traveling.

“This facility will only be available for the citizens having a metro bus card while others will pay full fare for using the feeder buses while the metro bus card will be available at Rs130,” it said.

MANGO FESTIVAL: The Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University (MNSAU) will organise a three-day mango festival in collaboration with the Mango Research Institute Multan and Agriculture Extension Department from July 19 to 21.

According to an official handout, the festival will be held at the Mango Research Institute and MNSAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Asif Ali will preside over ceremony while Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Haji Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, provincial agriculture minister Dr Farrukh Javed and provincial secretary agriculture Muhammad Mehmood will be the chief guests.

Apart from prominent social and political figures of the area, mango growers and people relating to pulp and supply industry will also participate in the festival.

The companies engaged in managing the industry will establish their stalls where they will inform the people and mango growers about the packing of mangoes, pulp industry and the ways to improve the mango supply through various sources.

They said the mango eating competition among children will also be a part of the festival.
