Qandeel Baloch seeks security

ISLAMABAD: Facebook celebrity Qandeel Baloch has written to the interior minister, the director general of the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) and the senior superintendent of Islamabad asking them to provide security to her and has requested action against those who made her identification documents public via social media, police officials told Dawn on Monday.

Facebook celebrity Qandeel Baloch.

In the letter which she has signed by her real name, Fauzia Azeem, she has said that images of her passport and CNIC were uploaded on social media sites four days ago which, she said, made her “extremely tense and depressive”. She has asked how her documents were collected from the National Database and Registration Authority and the Passports and Immigration Department and has asked about the officials involved in “destroying [her] image in show biz”.

She has said her life is in danger and that she is being threatened via calls on her mobile number and that she did not have security measures installed in her home.

She wrote: “I need security from you”.

She has requested the officials to involve law enforcement departments “immediately” in taking legal action, removing the documents from social media and holding to account those responsible.

She has said that her documents may be used for “negative” activities which may land her in trouble. Ms Baloch was not available for comment.
