KOHAT: The district chairman of the chief minister’s complaint cell resigned from his office here on Saturday.

Sources said Fahim Dad Bangash resigned after developing differences with the tehsil nazim over the occupation of the official residence of tehsil municipal officer.

He has sent his resignation to the provincial chairman of the CM’s complaint cell and the party chairman Imran Khan. He was appointed the chairman of complaint cell in February 2014.

Sources said Mr Bangash had forcibly taken over the residence and converted it into complaint office, but the premises were literally in use of the party youth.

The tehsil nazim and the commissioner served several notices on Mr Bangash to vacate the premises and also pay the outstanding rent of the building and electricity bills, but to no avail.

Sources said Mr Bangash approached the party high sups after he was served the vacation notice, but the latter, instead of listening to him, asked him to vacate the office after which he tendered his resignation.

OUTLAWS HELD: The district police claimed on Saturday to have arrested 33 suspects, including a proclaimed offender and his two facilitators, during an action in Ghurzandi area.

The police also recovered drugs and weapons from them, besides arresting two illegally staying Afghans.

SHO of Jarma police station Mohammad Afzal Awan while acting on a tip-off surrounded the Ghurzandi village, and carried out a targeted search operation during which a PO Fida Mohammad was arrested. Two facilitators of the outlaw identified as Noor Mohammad and Mohammad Hayat were also arrested. One Kalashnikov, three pistols, two repeaters, cartridges and hashish were recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, Jarma police seized 10 kilogrammes of hashish and opium which was being smuggled from tribal area to Mianwali on Saturday.

The police stopped a van near Muslimabad on the Indus Highway and during body search of a suspected passenger found 10kg of fine quality hashish and some opium from him. A case was registered against him.

The accused admitted that he had been smuggling drugs to Punjab.
