Admission forms available at colleges

ISLAMABAD: Students received registration forms and prospectus from colleges run under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) on the first day of the issuance of forms on Monday.

The students can get the prospectus and registration forms until July 26, which can be submitted by July 27.

According to the director model colleges, Dr Tariq Masood, the merit list will be displayed on August 2 and classes will start from August 22.

“There will be no serious issue of admissions. We will try to accommodate maximum number of students,” he said.

Thousands of students who pass the SSC exams from F.G. schools are denied admissions by model colleges every year. The F.G. schools receive nominal funds compared to the 20 model colleges-cum-schools from the government.

“There is a need to bring F.G. schools and colleges at par with model colleges. This discriminatory approach is spoiling the education system,” said Malik Ameer Ahmed of the Federal Government Teachers’ Association.

He said the F.G. schools received approximately Rs50 million while model college were given Rs200 million by the government.

“Under these circumstances, how the F.G. institutions can attract students,” he said.
