Two ‘IS men’ arrested with explosives
LAHORE/MULTAN: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested two members of banned militant Islamic State group and recovered explosive material from them.
A CTD spokesman said they received intelligence report about the presence of suspected terrorists in a house in Khan Colony who were planning attack on government installations.
He said a CTD police team conducted raid on the house and arrested the suspected terrorists, who were identified as Yaqoob Shah and Abdullah Moavia.
He said one kilo explosive material, safety fuse and two electric circuit detonators were recovered from the suspects who were later shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the CTD personnel arrested a suspected terrorist and recovered two hand grenades from him in Multan, our staff correspondent adds.
According to the CTD sources, Jaan Muhammad, allegedly affiliated with militant Islamic State (IS) group, who was earlier affiliated with banned Hizbul Tahreer and Sautul Ummah outfits, was arrested with two hand grenades and IS literature.
They said the suspect was planning attack on law-enforcement agencies personnel in Multan. They said an FIR (No 3/4) under Explosive Substances Act and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act with was filed against the suspect at local CTD police station.
CTD police also claimed to have arrested another suspect, Naeem Jaan, a member of banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi with explosive material in a raid near Nasarullah Chowk, Head Muhammadwala Road.
They said the suspect was about to target a worship place.
