Roadside blast in Quetta injures seven

QUETTA: A roadside blast on city's Sariab road injured seven people, including three security personnel, late Wednesday night.

According to police, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) had been planted on the road side.

"The security forces' vehicle was attacked in a huge blast, as it approached the Dukkani Baba area," Frontier Corps Spokesperson Khan Wasey told DawnNews.

The blast damaged a security forces' vehicle and three other private vehicles.

The injured were initially taken to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical treatment. Later, the critically injured persons were rushed to Combined Military Hospital Quetta.

Police and Frontier Corps personnel cordoned-off the area while the investigations are underway.

The blast, which was heard far and wide in Quetta city, caused panic among the citizens.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri strongly condemned the incident and ordered police to apprehend the accused involved in this act of terrorism.

"We will not tolerate any sort of terrorism," Zehri said in a statement.

Earlier in June, five people lost their lives and 28 others were wounded when a bicycle bomb tore through a market on Airport Road.
