Alex Hales fined 15pc match-fee for showing dissent over dismissal

England opener Alex Hales on Thursday was fined 15 per cent of his match-fees for showing "dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match”.

The right-handed batsman became England's first wicket of the innings in the seventh over when Yasir Shah took a splendid diving catch off Mohammad Amir's delivery.

Hales was found guilty of breaching Article 2.1.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

Hales held his ground despite Yasir had claimed the catch. After an umpire's review, the third umpire stuck with the on-field umpire's decision due to lack of evidence to overturn the decision.

The 27-year-old went to third umpire's room to question his decision and passed inappropriate remarks as he left the room.

No formal meeting was held, as the English opener accepted the offense.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of a warning/reprimand and/or the imposition of a fine of up to 50 per cent of the applicable match fee.
