Ban on public meetings, rallies in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD, Dec 2: A ban has been imposed on holding of public meetings and rallies in commercial and residential areas of the district, it is learnt.
Official sources told this correspondent on Tuesday that the district police officer had directed all SDPOs and SHOs to ensure that no public meeting or rally could be held in the city or its rural areas without the formal permission of the police and the administration.
The SHOs had also been directed to keep a vigil on the activities of politicians belonging to opposition parties.
The DPO has observed that holding of public meetings and protest demonstration by the public had become “too excessive due to which law enforcement agencies had been facing problems.”
MURDERED:A young boy was gunned down by his rivals in Chak 357 GB of Jaranwala on Tuesday.
Umar Hayat was intercepted by Farooq and Hashmat when he was going to his fields. The accused opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
Area police registered a case against the accused who were at large.
GAMBLERS HELD: The district police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested 18 more gamblers.
Iftikhar Hussain, Amin, Boota and Mukhtar were arrested from Rahmatabad while Shahid, Rasheed, Aslam, Yaseen and Razzaq were rounded up from Saddar area.
The Samundari City police arrested owner of a gambling den, Farooq, from his shop.
Khurrianwala police arrested Afzal, Asif and Arshad from their house. Haroon, Mujahid and Saeed were arrested by the Rail Bazar police while Ghulam Muhammadabad police nabbed Wajid Ali.
The arrested men have been sent to jail after registration of cases against them.
