Story Times: Spotlight

Secret Blair Witch sequel revealed

Fans of horror movies will be delighted to know that Lionsgate has announced a surprise sequel to 1999’s The Blair Witch Project. Returning to its found-footage format, Blair Witch will pick up where the first movie’s mythology left off. The story follows the brother of one of the characters in the first film who embarks on a quest to find out what happened to his sister.

The movie was screened publicly for the first time during the annual Comic-Con convention recently, with guests believing they’d showed up to screen a movie titled The Woods.

This is not the first attempt to follow up on the massively successful horror film. In 2000, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 tried to build on the original’s success, but failed to make a splash because it abandoned the stylistic choices of the first, particularly the found-footage approach. The current sequel of Blair Witch arrives in theatres on September 16.

An adorable new robot in Transformers 5

Director Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise continues to grow and expand. The battle of the Autobots and the Decepticons has evolved since the series debuted in 2007, and tonnes of new combatants have entered the fray over the last decade.

Here is an image of one of the newest Transformers characters that has just hit the web, and it’s nothing if not adorable. Showcasing a new Autobot named ‘Sqweeks’ — the newcomer appears to take the form of an old, rusty Vespa scooter with headlights for eyes and handlebars for arms. It’s alright to say ‘awww,’ we did too.

The adorable Autobot has received an incredibly warm reception from the online community. In a franchise full of giant, deadly robots, Sqweeks has a friendlier and welcoming appearance that will serve The Last Knight well in upping the cuteness factor. The fifth instalment in the Transformers franchise arrives in theatres next summer.
