Security high alert declared in Kohat
KOHAT: District police officer Mohammad Sohaib Ashraf on Friday cancelled the leaves of all police personnel following the Peshawar and Mardan blasts and in view of upcoming Eidul Azha by declaring security high alert.
According to a statement issued by the DPO’s office, more joint enforcements of security forces and police were deployed at the entry and exit points, educational institutions, outside and inside the district courts, worship places and sensitive installations.
It said that strict checking of vehicles and people was being carried out and vehicles were being allowed entry into the district after thorough verification.
In this regard, the DPO chaired a meeting which finalised a security plan under which all the cattle markets would be provided proper security.
It was decided that no illegal cattle market would be allowed in bazaar. It said that only one gate of the district courts would remain open.
Meanwhile, Jarma police foiled an attempt of smuggling hashish and arrested the alleged smuggler on Friday.
The police stopped a DI Khan-bound coaster (NO 3407) at Muslimabad on the Indus Highway and during checking found three and a half kilogrammes of hashish allegedly from the luggage of one Mohammad Yousuf of Bhakkar, Punjab.
Police said that the drugs were being taken from Darra Adamkhel to Punjab. The police have registered an FIR against the alleged smuggler.
Meanwhile, Qaumi Watan Party MPA Arshad Ali Umarzai has said that only his party is sincere to the Pakhtun cause and all other political parties have failed to deliver to the masses.
Addressing the workers at the residence of party’s local leader Mehmoodul Islam advocate here on Friday, he said that Pakhtuns should strengthen the hands of QWP chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao.
