Pakistan to participate in South Asian Karate event

LAHORE: Pakistan will participate in the third South Asian Karate Championships for Cadet / Junior and Seniors which will be held in New Delhi, India, from Sept 22 to 25.

Pakistan will field both male and female teams.

Khalid Noor, Shah Mohammad and Ghulam Ali have been nominated as coaches.

“Pakistan karate team stood first in the first South Asian Karate Championship in 2011 in India but we could not participate in the second event due to non issuance of visas by the Indian embassy to Pakistan.

“Visa applications for the third edition have been submitted in Indian embassy. We hope we will get visas this time and the karate team will perform its best in the championship,” a spokesman for the Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) said.

Meanwhile, training camp for the Pakistan teams has started at the PSB Coaching Centre in collaboration with the Pakistan Sports Board.

Following players have been selected by the PKF for the championship:

Male: Ibrahim, Ali Mehmood, Naseer Ahmed, Saadi Ghulam Abbas, Imtiaz Ali, Baz Mohammad, M. Ramzan, Abuzar Nazeer, Saweel Fayyaz, Zafar Iqbal, Israrul Haq, Jawad, M. Sajjad, Naimatullah.

Female: Saira Amjad, Benish, Razia Talib, Nargis, Kulsoom, Qurat-ul-Ain, Shahida, Naz Gul, Mahnoor Toheed, Meamoona Qadeer.
