QUETTA, Dec 5: The Balochistan Government has approved the Gwadar development master plan and decided that local population would not be shifted to other place from existing township.

It was also decided that with the consultation of local population necessary amendments could be made in the master plan according to the needs and requirements.

The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf here on Friday.

“The local population would not be shifted to any other place from the Gwadar town,” the meeting decided and also approved the draft of the ordinance regarding the Gwadar Land Authority (GDA) and board of directors of the GDA in which representatives of the concerned federal and provincial departments would be included. The chamber of commerce and industry would also be given representation in the board.

The meeting further decided that all departments responsible for the development of the future’s port city including Gwadar Port Authority would work in their jurisdiction while Gwadar Development Authority would be responsible for the development of Gwadar town.

The meeting also approved a proposal regarding establishment of Gwadar development authority secretariat and decided that required resources and staff would be provided soon for the secretariat. However, the meeting decided that Gwadar master plan would be implemented according to the guidance of President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

It was also decided that all commercial and residential buildings would be constructed according to the town planning and in this regard the GDA would establish department of building control authority and the people having plots in Gwadar would be bounded to start construction on their plots soon. The GDA would provide electricity, water and other required facilities to the residential areas.

The meeting was informed that various national and international firms have shown their interest in Gwadar development plan.

The chief minister said that a large number of investors from Pakistan and other countries have shown their interest in investing in various industries, trade, tourism and other sectors in the future’s port city of Balochistan.

BODY SET UP: The Balochistan government has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of provincial Finance Minister Syed Ehsan Shah to assess the losses of the allotees of the plots in Singhar Housing Scheme, Gwadar, which has been cancelled by the government.

The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf here on Friday.

The meeting reviewed the situation created after the cancellation of all the plots allotted to the politicians, army personnel, businessmen, defence and federal agencies and general public for the residential and commercial purposes in the Singhar Housing Scheme, and took important decisions in this regard.
