Sindh Awaami Caravan: a peasant movement seeks to fight food insecurity

On a warm March afternoon, one can hear the faint sound of Sindhi music outside the Umerkot Press Club. A navy blue track approaches; it is loaded with two huge speakers, four large megaphones and blue flag of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF).

The PFF's co-chair Muhammad Ali Shah, surrounded by the organization's memebers, follows closely behind. This group has gotten together on an important mission: to galvanize and inform indigenous communities on issues of food sovereignty and climate justice.
