Senior NBP official shot dead while resisting robbery in Karachi
KARACHI: A senior official of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) was shot dead on Thursday night by armed robbers while resisting a robbery in Gulistan-i-Jauhar area of the metropolis, said Shahra-e-Faisal police.
NBP Vice President Mohammed Sadiq Siddiqui, 51, went to Rado Bakery for routine grocery shopping where two suspects tried to snatch his car, said Gulshan SP Dr. Fahad Ahmed.
"As he offered some resistance, the suspects fired at him and fled the scene along with the snatched vehicle," said police.
"The victim sustained critical injuries and died on spot."
Later, the body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem.
Boy murdered in Boat Basin
A seven-year old boy was murdered in Shah Rasool Colony, Clifton, according to Boat Basin police and hospital officials.
"Shahzad Razzak was killed inside his home," police officials said, adding that the boy was alone at the time of incident as parents had gone to work.
The body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem examination.
“There were signs of poisoning and strangulation,” said additional police surgeon of the JPMC, Dr. Kaleem Shaikh.
The doctors, however, reserved the cause of death.
