CHARSADDA: As many as 20 people were injured when a passenger bus overturned after its tyre burst near Charsadda interchange on Peshawar Motorway on Thursday.
Giving details, motorway police official Gohar said that the bus (Swat-9376) was carrying 40 people from Lahore to Peshawar. He said that when the speeding bus reached near Bobak Kalyas one of its tyres burst and it overturned. The bus also hit an electricity pole causing damage to the 11,000KW transmission line.
As a result, 20 passengers suffered injuries and they were taken to hospitals in Peshawar and Mardan. The driver and host of the bus were stated to be in critical condition. Rescue 1122 officials shifted the injured to hospitals.
Meanwhile, PML-N provincial vice-president Ihsanullah Khan said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced establishment of 500-bed hospital in Charsadda district.
This he said while addressing a gathering of local PML-N activists. He said that during a meeting with Maryam Nawaz in Islamabad he along with PML-N district president Humayun Shah presented her a charter of demands. She presented the demands to the prime minister who ordered establishment of 500-bed hospital in Charsadda.
