Rawalpindi, Lahore Blues, AJK win in PCB U-19 event

KARACHI: Rawalpindi, Lahore Blues and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) emerged winners as the remaining three fixtures in the PCB Inter-region Under-19 Cricket Tournament were drawn on Monday.

On the third and final day of the fourth-round action, Lahore Blues scored the remaining five runs to defeat Larkana by nine wickets at the NBP Sports Complex.

Rawalpindi trounced Peshawar by eight wickets at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar.

After bowling out the hosts for 209 in the second innings, Rawalpindi knocked off the required runs without any hassle.

At the Mirpur Cricket Stadium, AJK clinched a 142-run success against Fata. After declaring their second innings at 221-8, AJK bowlers bowl out Fata for 189.

Karachi Whites had to settle for three points in the drawn game against Abbottabad at the latter’s home ground.

Bahawalpur, meanwhile, made a great comeback to force a draw against Islamabad at the Diamond Club Ground.

Resuming at 50-4, Bahawalpur reached 233 before taking eight Islamabad wickets for 78 runs in the team’s second innings.

Sialkot also took three points after drawing with Multan.

In the matches ending in two days on Sunday, Karachi Blues beat Quetta by an innings and 94 runs, Faisalabad decimated Hyderabad by an innings and 109 runs while Dera Murad Jamal shocked Lahore Whites by just two runs.
