Asif, Babar pair claim snooker title

KARACHI: The pair of Mohammad Asif and Babar Masih made amends when they thumped Iran 3-1 in the final to win the 15-Reds snooker team title in the inaugural Asian Billiards Sports Championship at Fujairah on Friday.

According to results available here, the duo conjured up an emphatic 88-40, 76-14, 20-76, 74-15 victory over Iran to annex one of the many titles that were at stake in the event.

Earlier, Pakistan carved out 3-2 victory over India in the semi-finals the scores being 44-61, 46-59, 66-53, 79-36, 72-39.

Final: Pakistan (Babar Masih and Mohammad Asif) bt Iran 3-1 (88-40, 76-14, 20-76, 74-15).

Semi-finals: Pakistan bt India 3-2 (44-61, 46-59, 66-53, 79-36, 72-39).

Chinese 8 ball pool:

Last-32 round: Mohammad Asif bt Shinebayar Bold (Mongolia) 7-6

Pre quarter-final: Abdul Rahman Alammar (Saudi Arabia) bt Mohammad Bilal 7-5.

Pre quarter-finals: Pakistan bt Jordan 3-1 (84-37, 61-16, 61-71, 81-1).

Quarter-finals: Pakistan bt Hong Kong 3-1 (25-68, 71-26, 57-40, 107-22).

Last-32 round: Mohammad Bilal bt Shinebayar Bold (Mongolia) 7-4.
