POF to hold tennis event

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Ordnance Factories, an affiliated unit of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, will organise the first Chairman POF Sports Board National Tennis Championship at the POF Wah Sports Complex from Oct 16 to 22.

The championship is PTF’S grade I national tournament and carries prize money of Rs500,000.

According to the PTF, competitions will be held in men’s and ladies singles; U-17, U-14 and U-10 singles, men’s doubles and 45 plus seniors doubles.

The under-10 event will be played with modified green dot balls.

Last date of entry is Oct 13 and all interested player are advised to send their entries at email address: pofscb@gmail.com.

Dr Amir Murad and Asad Durrani have been nominated as president and secretary respectively of the organising committee.

The entries could also be sent through the PTF.

All outstation players will be entitled to complementary board & lodge and main draw’s junior players will also get economy class railway fare.

PTF president Salim Saifullah Khan appreciated the POF step of restarting the national ranking tournament.

“It’s good for development of tennis in the country,” he said.
