34 seminary students in Kohat fall unconscious after having tea

PESHAWAR: At least 34 students of a seminary in Kohat were hospitalised on Monday as they fell unconscious after having tea, police said.

Jarma police officials, quoting affected students, said that the Madressah Hanfia's students began falling unconscious after drinking tea in the seminary's cafeteria.

The affected students were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital in Kohat and Liaquat Memorial Hospital, said police.

Dr Zainul Abideen, in-charge of the emergency department at DHQ hospital said that the condition of all students is stable.

He confirmed that all the students were dazed and added that blood samples of the patients have been sent for laboratory tests to further examine the causes of their condition.

Last month, over 200 students of Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College in Swabi fell sick due to food poisoning after having some snacks. Over 150 affected students were admitted to hospitals while rest were treated in the college premises.
