PAF jet crashes near Chakwal

CHAKWAL, Dec 10: A Pakistan Air Force’s F-7 fighter jet crashed near the Jabbi Shah Dilawar village, some 60 kilometre from here on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The pilot, Flight Lieut Khurram Shahzad, landed safely after baling out from the aircraft. He was later shifted to Air Headquarters, Chaklala in Rawalpindi, they said.

The PAF aircraft was on a routine flight and had taken off from the PAF Kamra base near Attock.

An engine fault was cited as being a probable cause of the crash, which occurred at 2pm.

Officials of the local administration and the PAF staff rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

An inquiry has been ordered in the incident.
