Strike observed in Chaman

QUETTA: A strike was observed in Chaman on Saturday in protest against a kidnapping incident.

The call for the strike was given by the All Parties Action Committee, Doctors Association and Anjuman-i-Tajran.

The committee’s leaders said armed men had kidnapped Asfand Yar, a son of Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Akhtar, and demanded ransom for his release.

It called upon the authorities concerned to ensure safe recovery of Asfand Yar. Markets, commercial centres and shops remained closed and traffic was thin on the city roads throughout the day.
