Police on Sunday arrested the suspected rapist of a 10-year-old girl with a mental disability in Charsadda.

The detained suspect confessed in police custody to raping the minor girl, Station House Officer Imran Khan told DawnNews.

The SHO said the victim's father had lodged a First Information Report and nominated a resident of Gidar village for the alleged rape of his daughter. The case was registered under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The victim was sent for a medical examination, the SHO said, and medical reports confirmed she had been raped.
