100-wicket milestone a proud moment for me: Yasir Shah
Leg-spinner Yasir Shah told DawnNews on Sunday that he was extremely happy at becoming the first Asian and second all-time fastest bowler to take 100 Test wickets at the close of the fourth day of the first day-night Test between Pakistan and West Indies in Dubai.
Shah reached the 100-wicket milestone as Pakistan dismissed Windies for 357 after setting a target of 537 for the side to chase. Shah took 5 wickets for 121 runs and became the second joint-fastest bowler to complete 100 wickets in all Test cricket.
The milestone was a proud moment for him, Shah said, adding that his focus is now on winning a Test for Pakistan.
The leg-spinner admitted he was unaware of the names of those who took the fastest and second joint-fastest 100 wickets, but after he reached the milestone, he came to know of them through watching TV.
He also thanked Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for wishing him well on Twitter before the start of first Test, when he needed just 5 wickets to break Ashwin's record to become the fastest to take 100 Test wickets.
He said, "It is always encouraging when someone praises you."
Shah said he was happy to see Ashwin's tweets, adding, "India-Pakistan matches are always important for both team's players and when the opportunity arrives, I will try to perform well."
