Gujrat Kidney Centre gets 16 dialysis machines
GUJRAT: The first consignment of 16 dialysis machines has reached the Gujrat Kidney Centre while more machines will be delivered within a few days.
Each dialysis machine costs Rs1 million while a German company given a contract for supplying and installing these machines has so far been paid Rs25m. A latest electronic lift, having a capacity enough to carry a bed to shift a patient on the first and second floors, is also being installed at a cost of Rs3m.
An official at the kidney centre said that 25 beds had also been procured while around 700-foot deep bore was being dug for the clean water to be supplied to run the dialysis machines.
A project of the public-private partnership, the kidney centre is being established in the downtown along Circular Road on a piece of land donated to the Red Crescent Society by a local philanthropist woman.
A sum of Rs70m has so far been spent on the project which was donated by local philanthropists while around Rs20m more are required for its completion.
