Japanese man found dead in hotel

RAWALPINDI: A Japanese man was found dead in his hotel room in Saddar on Tuesday, the police said.

Otaakeera, aged between 40 and 45, travelled to Pakistan on Nov 6 and went to visit Murree with his Pakistani business partner, Farhat Ali. After staying at the hill station for a couple of days, they came to Rawalpindi, where they were staying at a local hotel since Wednesday.

The police said Otaakeera was planning to establish a car dealing business with his Pakistani partner and checked in at the Saeed Hotel in Saddar on Nov 9.

He fell when he was taking a bath on Tuesday.

He was moved to the District Headquarters Hospital where he was pronounced dead and a post mortem was conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

The station house officer (SHO) in Cantt, Javed Iqbal said that the post mortem had indicated that Otaakeera had died of cardiac arrest.

He said Otaakeera had visited Pakistan in June this year as well and was hoping to establish a business here.

The SHO said Farhat Ali, who was staying with the deceased and belongs to Lahore, was taken into custody for questioning and has not been charged yet.
