Dengue larvae found in Gwadar

QUETTA: The provincial health department on Friday confirmed that dengue mosquito larvae had been found in the port city of Gwadar.

“Dengue larvae have been found in Gwadar,” a senior official of the health department said, adding that Balochistan Health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch had taken notice of the situation.

Presiding over a meeting, Mr Baloch directed the officials concerned to send a team of doctors to launch an anti-dengue fumigation drive in the port city and other coastal areas. The meeting was attended by Director General of Health Services Dr Masood Nosherwani and other officials of the department.

Mr Baloch asked the officials to submit a health plan to raise awareness among residents of the area to prevent the rise of fatal diseases like dengue, malaria and tuberculosis.

“People should be convinced to adopt preventive measures to save them from fatal diseases,” he said.
