Constable killed in Swabi attack

SWABI: A constable of the Counter Terrorism Depart­ment (CTD) of police was killed and an assistance sub-inspector (ASI) injured in an attack on the Swabi-Mardan road on Thursday.

Constable Adnan Tahir and ASI Fazal Akbar were on their way home on a motorcycle from work when men on two motorcycles opened fire on them near the Salay Baba bus stop.

The constable died and the ASI was taken to the Mardan Complex Hospital in a critical condition.

The ASI was later referred to the Lady Read­ing Hospital in Peshawar.

Quoting sources in the hospital, a police official said that the ASI received a bullet in his neck and was in a serious condition.

According to police, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Kalu Khan police station in Razaar tehsil.

Adnan Tahir hailed from Adina village and Fazal Akbar is a resident of Gari Kapura village in Mardan.

A case was registered aga­inst unidentified attackers.
