Nixor, FPS clinch tennis titles

KARACHI: Nixor College and Foundation Public School successfully defended their titles at the Inter-school Team Tennis Tournament which concluded here on Sunday at the Karachi Gymkhana tennis courts.

In the 16-18 age group, a stiff competition was witnessed between Nixor College and Bahria College NORE I. Dawar of Nixor College overcame a spirited challenge from Talha of Bahria College to win 6-3, 6-4.

The second singles between Hasan Farooq of Nixor College and Noor Mustafa of Bahria College proved to be an exciting clash.

The match featured some exciting rallies as both players fought hard. However, it was Hasan who came through a hard-fought battle to win 7-5, 7-5 and give Nixor College a winning 2-0 lead.

Nixor College also came through the doubles as Dawar and Hasan teamed up to beat Mobeen and Noor Mustafa.

In the U-15 age group, Foundation Public School beat Beacon House to win the title for the fourth consecutive time. Noman beat Musaf to win the first singles and put Foundation Public School in the lead. Yahya then overcame stiff resistance from Farooq to win 6-2, 6-4 as Foundation Public School annexed the title.

The tournament was organised by Razia Babar and Nabil Hoodbhoy of Perfect Strokes.
