Five restaurants sealed in Murree

MURREE: Officials of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday sealed five restaurants in Murree for poor quality of food and hygiene.

The officials of the PFA, however, faced resistance from some of traders’ representatives who not only insulted them but snatched their official documents and personal mobile phones.

On their complaint, the Murree police have registered cases against the president and general secretary of Anjuman Tajiran, Murree and ten other persons. The FIR enraged the traders’ representatives who were of the view that the local administration and police should have been involved in carrying out raids on food outlets.

When the PFA deputy director operation, Fareeha Alam was contacted she said the PFA team had launched the operation on the directives of the Punjab Government and when they sealed some of the hotels, a mob came snatched their personal things and harassed the staffers of the authority.

Assistant Commissioner Murree Arif Ali told Dawn that prior to launching the operation the PFA officials should have sought local administration and police support.
