Nadra identifies six crash victims

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has identified six plane crash victims, according to a report presented to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali on Thursday.

The report said that one of the bodies was identified through fingerprints while the rest were recognised on the basis of other evidence, adding that it was not possible to identify the excessively charred bodies through fingerprints.

The minister was told that all the 47 bodies had arrived in Islamabad. The bodies were moved to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for complete identification and relatives were asked to provide deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) samples.

The interior minister directed the Federal Investigation Agency to provide assistance in the preliminary investigation. Nadra was asked to identify the victims.

Interior Secretary Arif Ahmed Khan also sought help from the National Disaster Management Authority, while the air wing provided helicopters for search and rescue operations.
