Six plane crash victims laid to rest in Chitral
CHITRAL: Six victims of the PIA plane crash were laid to rest here on Friday.
The bodies of Shahzada Farhad Aziz and his daughter Tayyaba Aziz of Shahi Qila and that of Akbar Ali of Booni village and Umara Khan of Lone village arrived here on a C-130 plane. Later they were buried in their native villages.
Thousands of people had gathered at the Parade Ground where the funeral prayers of Shahzada Farhad and his daughter, the members of the Chitral’s royal family, were held. Commandant Chitral Scouts Col Nizamuddin Shah and district nazim Maghfirat Shah also attended the funeral.
The bodies of two sisters, Mehreen Rani and Farah Naz, were taken by road to Drosh town and buried there.
Meanwhile, the PIA will resume its flight operations from Islamabad to Chitral, while operations on Peshawar-Chitral route will be resumed later.
PIA district sales manager in Chitral, Zahideen Zahid, told Dawn that the ATR plane would be used to operate the flight. He said there was no plan to start C-130 planes on the Islamabad-Chitral route.
