Some ‘solace’ for Punjab govt in Justice Isa report

LAHORE: Though the Quetta Commission report finds fault with the PML-N’s federal and Balochistan governments and is likely to be challenged by them, the party’s Punjab government finds some solace in it.

“The Punjab government has been appreciated on setting up of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency in [the] inquiry report of a suicide attack at the Civil Hospital Quetta,” says an official press release.

“…the most modern laboratory has been set up in a very short period,” it quoted the report as saying and added “[the] Punjab government was also praised on immediate payment to the affectees [victims].”

Issued on behalf of Punjab government’s spokesman Malik Muhammad Ahmed, the release said the report lauded the performance of the head and experts of the forensic lab and that its experts worked in a very professional manner.

A period of 5-7 years is required even in developed countries for setting up such a laboratory, but the agency was established in less than three years due to personal interest and efforts of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, it said.
