Rs130mn distributed among 300 displaced families of Kurram Agency

Some 300 displaced families from Kurram Agency on Monday received compensation cheques worth Rs130 million for reconstruction and renovation of their damaged houses.

Commander 73 Brigade of Pakistan Army Brigadier Malik Amir Muhammad Khan handed over the compensation cheques among the affected families.

Speaking on the occasion Brigadier Amir Muhammad said that the government and the military taking measures for resettlement of displaced persons in their native towns, adding that measures are being taken to facilitate the returning families on priority basis.

He expressed the resolve that the sacrifices of forces and tribal people would not go waste. He said menace of terrorism would be wiped out in all its forms and manifestation.

Assistant Political Agent Kurram Ikramullah Khan requested the returning families to cooperate with survey teams on their return and do not let the terrorists to enter in their areas, adding that the government and armed forces are already vigilant in this regard.

Agency Coordinator Foundation for Rural Development Project Kurram Agency Muhammad Sadiq said that Rs270mn have been provided to 310 families for shelter while the government has provided Rs150mn for renovation of partially damaged houses of 287 families.

Later, Tribal leader Malik Haji Salim Khan, Malik Ajab Khan and Muhammad Jamil expressed gratitude to the government and donor agencies for providing compensation to the displaced families and said that measures should be taken for registration of unregistered families.
